I investigated current technology use and teacher skill levels by taking advantage of the survey tool in Microsoft SharePoint Portal. All Staff have access to this site and it was relatively easy for them to complete the survey.
Some initial conclusions are that:
§ most respondents collaborate with peers when designing technology-related materials.
§ 80% of respondents apply current research only 50% of the time
§ 50% of respondents provide technology related experiences most of the time.
§ Only 18% of respondents take differentiation into account when using technology.
§ Only 18% of respondents evaluate technology use in multiple ways.
§ 65% of respondents often use reflection as a means of making decisions about technology use.
§ Technology is commonly used as a communication tool
§ Most respondents consider themselves good models for ethical and legal use of technology.
My concern with this type of survey is that it is relatively easy to give answers that might be acceptable to the College, but that do not reflect what is actually happening. I intend to use this

I consider that many people provide the answer they think you want to hear, when completing surveys, and for this reason they are not too reliable. However, as a starting point this was a useful tool, for me to gauge the level of use and the skill levels of the teaching staff. Not all teachers responded.
