Each of these documents represents efforts made towards advancing technology integration through the provision of workshops or discussions.
Sample Faculty Presentation
A PowerPoint presentation given to all faculties in an attempt to demonstrate the need for increased integration of ICT in specific subject areas. This series of presentations, each one specifically targeted to a faculty, sets the tone for what I am trying to achieve. In the main, they were well-received and provided a number of initial contacts, with whom I am now working on a 1:1 basis.
Heulab Workshop (DBook)
Part of a series of workshops related to a software suite (Heulab) that is used in association with Tablet PCs. These instructions were printed and provided to each participant at the workshop. They are also available on the college portal for revision & reference purposes.
Staff ICT Workshop
This is a hands-on, how-to session, for all teachers, during which they will gain practical experiences in responding to the networked classroom.
Expanding Learning Horizons Program
Program as evidence of a 2 hour workshop given at a Victorian conference on all four Heulab modules
Newsletter
Community statement from Principal relating to my work and the integration progess being made.
The following links provide access to staff learning guides and help files that are published to staff via the Microsoft SharePoint Portal.
To Kill a Mockingbird – activity using Intel Thinking Tools
This document is a follow up to a peer coaching meeting with an English teacher. Her request was for a mindmapping tool to map and show the relationships between the characters in the text being studied. I showed her the Intel Seeing Reason Tool, which allows teachers to set up a project for students to access. She was keen to use this and I set up the first session. The project site can be accessed using the details provided
Using Technology to do almost anything
This was published recently to provide teachers with an introduction to Web 2.0 tools and provide them with some choice over conventional, pre-loaded software.
Installing & Using SchoolKit Notes
An example of a self-help guide to the installation and use of software that is available for teachers. These are produced for all software packages that teachers have at their disposal. I usually run through the guide with individuals and then let them learn by doing.
Australia as Global Citizen
This document was provided to Mr Alexander Downer’s office to give access and instructions regarding the learning program show elsewhere in this portfolio. (The site can be accessed using these same details) Virtual classrooms are the teacher’s own webspace where they can upload learning tasks, assessments, weblinks etc. They are quick and easy to set up on the portal are accessible from home, and have proven to be very popular.
Annotated screenshot of WINK capture
Use of Wink software to create animated help files….staff are able to watch a flash movie that demonstrates the actions they need to follow. This is a very useful training tool that allows staff to learn new software, online, in their own time. I have learnt how to use this software (which was one of my learning goals associated with staff training) and have produced a number of these and uploaed them to the Staff Training Area on the portal.
This is one area that keeps my quite busy but which provides many rewards. Here i have an opportunity to have discussions about why a piece of software is to be used; what the intentions are; and how it is intended to be used. Quite often I am able to steer teachers towards more appropriate solutions that are easler to implement and provide a better outcome for the students.
A part of my role is also to examine the educational potential of requested software. Quite often there are cheaper (or free) alternatives.
